PRD Partners with Cancer Council Queensland
Newstead, Queensland (13 November 2014) – PRD announced a new partnership with Cancer Council Queensland during the real estate franchise network’s Principal’s Forum, held 10-11 November, at Peppers Salt Resort & Spa in Kingscliff, NSW. To launch the affiliation, PRD commissioned the “Home Candle,” a handmade soy candle with a custom blend of cedarwood and lemongrass. The candle was created as the company’s signature settlement gift and is used across the network’s 100+ franchise offices and clients.
The candle was inspired by Cancer Council’s iconic Candlelight Ceremony used during its Relay for Life events of which PRD is a Community Supporter.
Of the first 100 candles produced, Candle #1 was reserved and auctioned during the Forum, which hosted owners of PRD franchise offices across Australia.
Neil Jens, Founder and CEO of PRD Ballarat, was the lucky bidder, winning the auction with a generous $600 going to Cancer Council.
Jens proudly took on the competitive bidding and explained that he was inspired to “win” and make an additional donation. “Unfortunately cancer affects so many of us,” said Jens. “We have supported a number of local Ballarat cancer research initiatives and thought this was a terrific idea to raise money. I really appreciate the hard work Cancer Council does for such a great cause. “ PRD also announced that 100% of the proceeds from the first 100 candles sold will go straight to Cancer Council. Within two hours of announcing the sale all 100 candles were sold.

“In one form or another, just about everyone is touched by cancer,” said Brasier. “Many of our offices were already involved in their own local community fundraising, and with Cancer Council we saw a simple way for them to get involved by supporting a vision of a cancer-free Australia.”
Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift thanked PRD for their generosity and support.
“One in two Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime – around 25,000 this year alone,” Clift said.
“We are so proud to have the support of PRD as a corporate partner for 2015 – their efforts will give hope to all Queenslanders affected by cancer. “A huge thanks goes to each and every person who has purchased a candle and donated so far.”
For 2015, the PRD corporate office has invited its 100+ offices across Australia to take part in Relay For Life events. In 2013 Relay For Life raised $24,014,569 for Cancer Council.
