PRD Port Stephens Raises Over $55,000 for Children’s Brain Cancer Research

Last Friday, PRD Port Stephens proudly hosted a special morning tea, marking a significant moment in our ongoing commitment to supporting research for DIPG - children’s brain cancer. We had the honour of welcoming Professor Matt Dunn and Melissa Howarth from The University of Newcastle’s Cancer Signalling Research Group to our office, where Dane Queenan, PRD Principal, presented them with a cheque for $55,300.

The incredible total was raised through a combination of contributions from PRD Port Stephens and generous donations from the local community. Of this amount, $27,500 was personally donated by PRD Port Stephens, representing $500 from every sale achieved in the last quarter. The remaining funds were raised through community fundraising efforts, showcasing the collective generosity and compassion of our Port Stephens community.

“We are incredibly privileged to support Professor Matt Dunn and his team in their mission to find better treatments for children suffering from DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an aggressive and heartbreaking form of brain cancer,” said Dane Queenan. “It’s inspiring to know that our collective efforts, both as a business and a community, are contributing to the advancement of such crucial research.”

Professor Matt Dunn and his team at the Cancer Signalling Research Group are at the forefront of groundbreaking research that aims to develop innovative treatments for DIPG, with a goal to improve survival rates and outcomes for children facing this devastating disease. The funds raised will support ongoing studies, providing valuable resources for researchers working tirelessly to find solutions.

PRD Port Stephens has been dedicated to this cause for the past quarter, pledging $500 from every property sale during June, July, and August to children’s brain cancer research. The results of this initiative exceeded all expectations, thanks to the overwhelming support of our clients, colleagues, and local community.

“We are beyond grateful for the incredible generosity shown by everyone who contributed,” said Queenan. “This milestone is a reflection of what can be achieved when we come together for a greater purpose.”

PRD Port Stephens would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this campaign, whether through direct donations or by trusting us with their property transactions. Together, we have taken an important step in the fight against DIPG - childhood brain cancer.
