Four emerging industries will propel the Greater Whitsunday to new heights

Foundational industries such as coal, agriculture, and tourism will propel the Greater Whitsundays. Still, a new economic development road map claims the region is in a prime position to secure four emerging industries.

According to the Whitsunday Times, this will propel the Greater Whitsunday to new heights.
As we all know, coal, agriculture, and tourism are the bread and butter of what drives Whitsunday.

According to Regional Development Australia Greater Whitsundays CEO Robert Cocco, critical minerals testing and commercialisation, biofutures, aerospace, aviation, and marine services were expressed as the following enterprises that could emerge from the region’s pre-existing capacities.

For six months, the help from hundreds of stakeholders and community leaders curated a road map where they have foreseen a development ‘bridge’ linking traditional industries with reinvigorated opportunities.

The stakeholders put forward 180 projects to encourage future growth and development across the target area, including the Mackay, Isaac, and Whitsunday local government areas.
