New Water Reservoir for Cannon Valley
For those living or passing by Cannonvale, you will notice a 12.5 megalitre water reservoir built up.
It was the first tank installed due to Council's Cannon Valley Reservoir Project, located at the top of the hill near Hamilton Avenue in Cannon Valley. An onsite crane has been lifting each wall panel into place for the past week.
This new tank will more than double the potable water supply for the Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and surrounding communities and provide greater resilience during severe weather events.
It will also give us far greater water storage capacity across multiple reservoirs than the single 12.3 megalitre Reservoir located between Jones Road and Shute Harbour Road.
Initially, this project was funded by the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund for $7.5 million. This project's end goal is for Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and surrounding communities to double their potable water supply.
