As a little bit of a change from last week where I was talking about Race Week being on, for sailing with no wind, well that has certainly changed here in the Whitsundays it is blowing a gale outside today, hence I'm indoors unfortunately.
This week I wanted to touch very briefly on something that is coming up very soon and that is our half yearly Whitsunday Marketplace Update. I thought I would bring you a couple of stats in that report, which should be out next week. We can distribute that to you in a PDF and you can download that and have a bit of a read about the market.
So median sales prices for 4802 postcode, remember that's not the entire Whitsunday Shire but the 4802 postcode, median price for houses $625,000 and for units $330,000. Median rents we finished at $600 a week for houses and $435 a week for units, now rental yields 6.1% for houses and 7.9% rental yields for units, so really healthy rental yields here in the Whitsundays. Not surprisingly we are seeing a lot of investors looking to our area to potentially purchase a property to rent out, which is good news with the rental market struggling with demand at the moment.
