The Whitsunday Regional Council approve the port of Airlie apartment complex proposal.
Port of Airlie apartment complex proposal has made it pass, and the council gave it a thumbs up for approval.
This month, Whitsunday Regional Council granted Port of Airlie owners Meridien preliminary approval to surpass the statutory 12m height limit on a vacant lot on Port Drive to construct three apartment blocks comprising 52 dwellings.
Mayor Andrew Willcox voted in the development agreement at an ordinary council meeting in Bowen, saying he trusted council officers' recommendation who deemed the proposed three and four-story buildings acceptable under the region's current planning scheme.
During this process, there were raised eyebrows, and some council and community members submitted objections to this building.
