Whitsunday Regional Council has just released and approved a draft Airlie Beach master plan.

Whitsunday Regional Council has just released and approved a draft Airlie Beach master plan.

One of the priority projects for which the council will pursue is external funding as part of a new Greater Airlie Beach Masterplan, is a further $2 million Cannonvale fishing jetty.

This 45m long, 3m wide jetty would be located next to the foundations of the old Cannonvale jetty, which underwent cyclone damage in the late 1950s. It would meet the need for a shore fishing facility closer to town than the famous Shute Harbour, which requires a vehicle to access.

Other projects included in the draft plan were $3.2 million in upgrades to Cannonvale Lakes Park and a $100,000 investigation into the further redevelopment of the Shute Harbour marine terminal incorporating improved boat trailer parking arrangements.

Here are the following Greater Airlie Beach Masterplan - Key projects.
* Lighting and Placemaking
* Shute Harbour Stage 2
* Conway National Park Mountain Bike Tracks
* Airlie Beach Main Street Façade Improvement Policy
* Cannonvale to Airlie Beach Foreshore Tourism Signage
* Cannonvale Lakes Park
* Airlie Beach Shared Pathways and Crossings improvements
* Cannonvale Fishing Jetty
* Cannon Valley Green Entrance Gateway (Avenue of Honour)
* Cannonvale Community Cultural and Civic Hub
* Airlie Beach Event Spaces and Outdoor Ci

Whitsunday residents will have their chance to provide feeedback to the plan as the council releases it for public comment in the next few months, along with a Draft Airlie Beach Foreshore Land Management Plan.
